5 Cyclone Squadron Sponsoring Committee
A Community Supporting Cadets.

The Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) is a group of dedicated parents and volunteers from the community working with squadron staff to represent the Air Cadet Program within the local community. Their role is to ensure indispensable local support for squadron needs as well as take care of all the logistics involved in the squadron activities.

The Sponsoring Committee's role is integral to the success and sustainability of the Air Cadet Program in the local community. Their dedication and efforts contribute significantly to the overall experience and development of the cadets involved in the program.

The committee is comprised of 5 executive positions and 8 sub-executive positions. Its success is a result of the co-operation between the Canadian Armed Forces, volunteers and local community support.

The committee plays an important role in the success of all our cadet's and depends on the constant and dynamic support of parents and community members.

If you are interested in being a part of the SSC and would like to work with the cadets, we ask that you please read the Volunteer Welcome Package (below) and fill out the required screening forms for submission to: vicechair.1@5cycloneaircadets.ca

Key Functions.
01 Local Representation
Act as ambassadors for the Air Cadet Program within the local community, promoting awareness and understanding of the program's goals and activities.
02 Logistics Coordination
Take care of all logistical aspects related to squadron activities, including coordinating transportation, securing venues, and managing equipment and supplies not provided by the Canadian Armed Forces.
03 Financial Support
Work on fundraising initiatives or secure financial support to meet the squadron's financial needs, ensuring that necessary resources are available for cadet activities and programs.
04 Communication
Serve as a communication link between the squadron staff, cadets, and the community. This may involve disseminating information about upcoming events, achievements, and the overall impact of the Air Cadet Program.
05 Volunteer Recruitment
Recruit and organize volunteers, including parents, to assist with various tasks and activities. This helps ensure a smooth operation of the program and its events.
06 Advocacy
Advocate for the needs and interests of the squadron within the local community and potentially with higher-level organizations or authorities.
07 Problem Solving
Address challenges and issues that may arise, working collaboratively with squadron staff to find solutions and ensure the program's success.
08 Event Planning
Plan and coordinate special events, ceremonies, and other activities that involve the participation of the Air Cadets, ensuring they run smoothly and align with the program's objectives.
09 Resource Management
Managed and allocate resources effectively, ensuring that the squadron has what it needs to provide a positive and enriching experience for the cadets.
